The work
Stump grinding and stump removal
We grind stumps and the surface roots around them below grade, and we remove a stump whole when its roots have to come out.
"Below grade" means under the dirt line, not flush with it, so grass can grow straight over the spot. Grinding leaves the deeper roots to break down in the ground on their own; when a new tree, a slab or a pool needs that ground, we dig out the "root ball" instead. Here is what that covers:
- One stump or a whole yard of them, ground below grade
- "Surface roots" ground down so the mower clears
- Palm stumps as well as hardwood stumps
- "Full stump removal" when the roots must go
- Chips raked back into the hole or hauled off after stump grinding
